Extending the Life Of Your Battery
Our customers ask…
Q: When should I replace my battery/batteries?
A: There is no need to replace a battery on a fixed schedule! To extend the battery’s useful life for as long as possible, you need to take care of them properly. That means adopting good charging habits and taking care with battery storage. Some say to charge batteries when they are between 20% and 50%, but many experts suggest that you only let it reach 50 percent before topping it up again. They also say that your batteries will age faster if they’re constantly plugged in while already charged to 100 percent. There isn’t a great risk in leaving your batteries charge overnight, but most experts recommend you remove the batteries from the charger as soon as they are charged. You should never leave your batteries in a hot car, in the hot sun or next to the oven. A hot battery will suffer long-term effects on its lifespan. Many batteries drain at about 5-10 percent a month when not in use. If you let the battery discharge completely and leave it uncharged for a long period of time, it may eventually become incapable of holding a charge at all. The documentation that comes with your device should include more tips and advice, so read through it all carefully for any extra guidelines on treating your batteries as kindly as possible. Apply this little bit of extra care, and you should find the battery inside your mod lasting at least until you’re ready for an upgrade.
