Q: Why can’t I can’t taste the flavor my device should be producing?
A: In some cases a loss of flavor could be caused by an issue with your equipment, such as an old coil, low airflow or low wattage. If you suspect that your device is the culprit, bring it in and we will take a look.
If you are new to vaping and still trying to quit smoking cigarettes, that could be the cause as well, because your olfactory senses are still trying to recover from the toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke. It is well-known among analog smokers that smoking dulls your sense of taste. As you make the switch from analog cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, your ability to taste will improve over time. For some, this takes as little as a week, and for others, up to several weeks. Unfortunately, sometimes with this increased sensation, your olfactory senses will be overloaded, and will shut down, causing the Vapers’ fatigue. Do not panic! This is completely normal, and simply your olfactory sense’s way of recuperating.
Another explanation could be that you have flavor fatigue (or Vaper’s tongue) which is described as an unexpected diminish of flavor while vaping. Many Vapers experience flavor fatigue from time to time and it usually goes away on its own within a week or two. But there are things that you can do to expedite the recovery time. One of the most basic suggestions we have found to help alleviate Vapers’ tongue is to simply increase your water intake. Hydration is important when vaping especially if you vape for extended periods at a time. Some of our customers have also suggested brushing teeth, Big Red gum, eating a pickle or drinking glass of citrus juice such as OJ or grapefruit.
If you vape the same flavor all day every day, your olfactory senses can become desensitized to that particular flavor. To remedy your case of flavor fatigue, you can take two approaches: switch to a new flavor or have a flavor rotation. If you have been using the same flavor(s) for quite some time, your taste buds may have a tendency to get used to those flavors and make it difficult to taste them anymore. Our staff suggests vaping flavors with mint, menthol or cinnamon that work well as olfactory cleansers. They are tasty ways to give your olfactory sensors time to reboot. At Vape Escapes we carry a HUGE selection of e-liquid making it easy to find something new and tasty for you to try!
