What’s the Deal with Popcorn Lung?
by Kaylin
I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but can you really get it from vaping? Probably not. In fact, nobody has ever been diagnosed with popcorn lung from vaping, or cigarettes for that matter which contain hundreds of times more of the infamous diacetyl than e-liquids do.
When inhaled in large quantities, Diketones (including diacetyl, acetoin, and acetyl propionyl), commonly used in savory and buttery flavors, were found to cause severe cases of bronchiolitis obliterans – now more commonly referred to as ‘popcorn lung’. The people who were found to have this condition however, weren’t linked to vaping at all. They were actually workers in a microwave popcorn factory who contracted the condition after working around such high levels of diacetyl for a long period of time… much more than you will ever find in any vape juice.
So, is diacetyl safe? Possibly not. But, you’ll never be able to inhale a fraction of the amount of Diketones that the factory workers did, and your odds are much better vaping than smoking as e-liquids have regulated Diketones levels. At Vape Escapes, we care about the contents of your e-juice and strive to source the highest quality juices available. So, you will not find diacetyl in any of our products.
