Why the Craze Over Nicotine Salts?
This new nic salt popularity started about 3 years ago when PAX (manufacturer of the JUUL pod system) patented a new formula to use in their pods. Since PAX was marketing mostly to smokers looking to quit, they wanted to find a way to more closely simulate the feel and nicotine delivery of cigarette smoking than traditional vaping.
Most regular e-juices are available in different nicotine strengths, like you will find at Vape Escapes, but you will rarely find anything that goes over 24 mg. That’s because freebase nicotine is acidic, and therefore harsh on the throat. Because of that, it would be almost impossible to vape a 50 mg nic e-juice on a vape device that delivers a decent amount of vapor.

However, when JUUL salts pods debuted with around 50 mg of nicotine, they also claimed a smoother vaping experience. Plus, nic salts in these pods absorbed as well as freebase nicotine found in combustible cigarettes. How is that possible? The answer lies in the type of acid that PAX used to create their particular nic salt. We’ve previously mentioned that different acids can be bonded to nicotine and the result will be a bit different with each one of those. PAX used benzoic acid to find out if it can rival the absorption of freebase nicotine. Their research confirmed that that particular formulation was successful in creating maximum concentration of nicotine in the bloodstream and the time needed to achieve it were both comparable to combustible cigarettes. That was big news!
